Josh Johnson Sunrise Concert reviews
Perfect way to ring in the new year
I can't think of a better way to celebrate the new year than attending a lively concert in Motown. Josh Johnson and Co. kicked off with a high-energy performance around 10:30pm, briefly pausing for a live broadcast of the ball drop in NYC (we entered with roughly 20 seconds remaining on the countdown). Following this, they played a snippet of Auld Lang Syne on the fiddle before diving back into their set for over an hour of fantastic music. The transition into the new year felt just right for me, as I usually find the significance of flipping the calendar page a bit exaggerated. Josh Johnson delivered an outstanding show, featuring tracks from Foundation, You Get What You Give, and Uncaged. Their setlist also included some enjoyable and occasionally unexpected covers such as a 10-minute rendition of Marshall Tucker's Can't You See and Rage Against the Machine's Killing In The Name. In total, the headliners performed for about 2.5 hours, and every moment was exceptional.
